Southern Methodist University is committed to provide scholarships and/or award grants to roughly 80% of first-year students. The university's financial assistance programmes mix need-based financial help with academic prizes. Southern Methodist University offers a variety of scholarships for Indian students in the United States.

• Presidential Scholarship

Every year, the highest academic merit award of full tuition and fees is given to 20-25 deserving first-year students.

• Ray L. Hunt and Nancy Ann Hunt Scholars of Leadership

​​​​​​​Up to 25 first-year students will receive full tuition and fees, minus resident tuition and fees at the student's state's premier public institution, transportation costs to one of the study abroad programmes, and the opportunity to meet notable experts in the field.

• SMU Distinguished Grant

​​​​​​​A scholarship of USD 100,000 is offered to students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 in their chosen degree for eight semesters (USD 12,500 each year). Students are expected to achieve excellent academic results.

• Provost Grant:

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​A scholarship of USD 120,000 is offered to students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 in their chosen programme for eight semesters (USD 30,000 each year). This prize is awarded to students who have demonstrated academic distinction and merit.
