History

The Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) was the art and design&nbsp;faculty&nbsp;of Birmingham City University. It has now been merged into the university&#39;s Faculty of Arts, Design and Media,and is based at the&nbsp;Birmingham City University City Centre Campus&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Birmingham School of Art&nbsp;on Margaret Street.

The main BIAD campus and library is located at&nbsp;The Parkside Building, just north of Birmingham city centre, and about three-quarters of a mile from both&nbsp;Birmingham New Street station&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Custard Factory&nbsp;quarter. It is adjacent to&nbsp;Aston University.

Available scholarships and application procedure for Scholarships

Every year we provide&nbsp;merit-based scholarships&nbsp;recognising the talents of our international students, which will be discounted against the cost of your first year&#39;s tuition fees.

All international students enrolling on an undergraduate course in September 2021 will be eligible for a scholarship of up to &pound;2,000, discounted from your first year&#39;s tuition fees. This is awarded based on your academic background.

Curzon Building - Business, Law, Social Sciences and English

The Curzon Building is a state-of-the-art&nbsp;addition to&nbsp;our City Centre Campus. IT features modern facilities including our psychology labs, mock court room and CITY trading room.

Psychology Labs

Our psychology labs feature all of the latest equipment, including&nbsp;an EEG scanner and eye tracking equipment, and state-of-the-art software such as E-Prime, SPSS, Pinnacle Studio and NVIVO

CITY Trading Room

Students on our Finance and Economics courses&nbsp;have the opportunity to work in our &lsquo;CITY Trading Room&rsquo; using the same investment analysis software as traders, financial analysts and decision makers in the investment industry.

Marketing Link Agency

We have our own student-run, in-house marketing agency, The Link, where you can sharpen your skills with briefs and projects from leading businesses and organisations, such as Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Serco and Cure Leukaemia.

Crown Court&nbsp;

One of our two mock courtrooms, our Crown Court is used to simulate a real courtroom feel. It is used as much as possible to ensure you are comfortable talking in front of a jury and a judge when you graduate.&nbsp;

You may be required to undertake a placement as part of your course or can choose to go out on placement voluntarily during your time at the University. These placements tend to be shorter and will compliment your curriculum so that you can balance studying and getting the experience you need.

Types of companies

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships allow students to help solve specific business problems, and experts from industry are invited to be guest lecturers and comment on projects.

For example, our Digital Marketing students demonstrated their work to Red Bee Media, a creative agency who have worked with Netflix, NBC, Nissan, the BBC and more.

Placements

The climate of Birmingham, the most populous city in Alabama, is&nbsp;humid subtropical, with mild and rainy winters, during which short cold spells can occur, and hot and muggy summers, with many hours of sunshine but also with rains and thunderstorms.
