California State Institution (CSUN) is a public university in the Los Angeles suburb of Northridge founded in 1952. It is one of the largest universities in the California State University System, with over 40,000 students enrolled. It had more than 2,000 faculty members in 2014, with more than a third of them on a tenure track. It is ranked 5th in the United States on the Social Mobility Index college rankings.
