Place description: Cardiff is the capital of Wales and the eleventh largest city in the UK. Cardiff is the principal commercial centre of Wales and is the base of the Senedd (the Welsh Parliament), Welsh media and many cultural institutions. It is a popular yet less talked about tourist destinations of the world.
Cardiff was a small town in the 19th century which rose to prominence when it was used as a port to transport coal when industries came to Wales. Since then, Cardiff has been an important part of the Welsh economy. Even though the population of the city amounts to just 10% of Wales, the capital contributes to 20% of the Welsh GDP. With its beauty and importance, Cardiff is a place worth visiting, albeit for education or just sight-seeing.

Important landmarks/places nearby: When in Cardiff, seeing places that stand for the city’s rich history is a must. You can explore the city’s heritage by visiting places like the Cardiff Castle and the Museum of Cardiff. If you are a literature buff, you can go and see the Roald Dahl Plaza or the The Enormous Crocodile, just 10-15 minutes away from the campus. There are also parks you can stroll in and exhibitions that you can attend.

Crime rate: The crime rate of Cardiff is 32.7 which translates as 32.7 crimes reported per 1000 people per annum. As compared to the national crime rate, Cardiff’s crime rate stands at 104%. While there are certain areas where you would have to be careful, Cardiff is considered one of the safest places of the UK. However, before making any important decisions, we would recommend you do a detailed research to make a well-informed decision.

Nearby Airports: The only airport in Cardiff worth getting acquainted with for both international and domestic travel purposes is the Cardiff Airport. A half hour drive from the campus would take you to the airport which would then take you anywhere you would want to go.

Nearby Subways and train stations: The nearest train station is the Cardiff Queen Street Station, just 5 minutes away from the campus. While travelling by train can be an option, we recommend you take the bus for daily commute. There are quite a few bus stops located just a couple minutes away from the campus. These are: National Museum Stop RG, Megabus Stop GQ, Park Place Stop RC, and Law Courts.
