Now a private university, offering over a hundred undergraduate and postgraduate courses, Concordia University Chicago began as a college that catered only to parochial teacher education. CUC considers 1864 as the year of its establishment. Established in Addison, Illinois, it was initially called the Addison Teachers Seminary.

It was in 1912 that the construction for a new campus in River Forest began. Once completed, the campus shifted from Addison to River Forest and changed its name to Concordia Teachers College. It was only in 2006 that the university changed its name to Concordia University Chicago.

The Maharaja Restaurant and Chiya Chai Cafe are some other good options that are located a bit farther off but offer both dine-in and takeaway options.

Student Clubs

There are a number of student clubs and organizations that you can be a member of.

The local population is nearly 11,000 .This is the historic and vibrant town of Oak Park, a much larger suburb known for its architecture. Oak Park is the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway.
