History

Dalhousie University is located in the province of Nova Scotia and has three of its campuses located in Halifax and one in Bible Hill. Originally established in 1818 as a nonsectarian college by George Ramsay, the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Dalhousie University today is a public research university. The college faced financial difficulties and did not officially hold classes until 1938 and then reopened in 1963. In 1997, the college was officially renamed as the Dalhousie University, or as it is commonly known today, Dal.
