History

Drew University&rsquo;s history begins with financer Daniel Drew who purchased land in Madison, New Jersey in 1867. His aim was to establish a theological seminary to train future ministers for the Methodist ministry. Drew Theological Seminary thus remained until it was expanded to a liberal arts college in the 20th century.

A liberal arts curriculum was added in 1928 and graduate studies were included in 1955. Today, the Drew University has three schools operating under it, namely, The College of Liberal Arts,&nbsp; The Drew Theological School and The Caspersen School of Graduate Studies.

On-Campus Accommodation

All undergraduate students who are enrolled in a full-time course are required to reside on campus.

<ul>
	<li>They can reside offsite only if they live with a family member within a 50-mile radius of the campus.</li>
	<li>On-campus housing for graduate students is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.</li>
	<li>Housing applications can be filled out online, and students can also choose and come in contact with their roommates if they wish to.</li>

Off-Campus Accommodation

Students enrolled in postgraduate courses can apply for on-campus residency. Still, space is minimal, so they would have to look for private accommodation if they don&rsquo;t find a spot on campus. You can hire an agent or use online housing portals to find a comfortable place conveniently from the campus.

Food Facilities (Availability of vegetarian/Indian food)

When you are at the&nbsp; Drew University campus, you might have to take a 10-20 minute drive to reach an Indian food joint. The distance might seem off-putting, but the taste of home cannot be traded. Caffe India and Mehndi are some of the nearby restaurants you can try.

There are more than 60 organisations at Drew. You can choose to be a part of one of them or can start a club of your own.

Students can find part-time work opportunities on campus. Federal Community Service Program helps students find work opportunities on-campus or with the university&rsquo;s community partners. Drew University might have begun as a seminary and is still affiliated with Methodist faith but its students are given full liberty to follow their faith while on-campus. With state-of-the-art facilities and great scholarship offers, students are welcomed with open arms. On-campus residence is pretty much guaranteed and even encouraged. Drew offers a wide range of scholarships to all of their students. International Students are automatically considered for scholarships at Drew so no separate application is to be submitted

External scholarships can be applied to if Drew&rsquo;s grants or scholarships are not sufficient. If the university thinks the total aid is exceeding the need of the student, deductions may be made.

Financial Aid

Drew University houses state-of-the-art facilities for students of all courses.

	<li>For the theatre dance department, Dorothy Young Center for the Arts is an invaluable asset. A 70,000 square-foot building, it is used for rehearsals and performances.</li>
	<li>The Hall of Sciences is where the research activities take place.</li>
	<li>It also houses many specialised facilities such as a greenhouse, a research grade telescope, a microscopy and imaging suite and a laser holography lab.</li>

The town is considered a college town as it is home to three universities, including Drew University.
