The Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (FHM) was started in 2000. It is a private, state-recognized university of applied sciences in Bielefeld.

The Ostwestfalen-Lippe Chamber of Crafts in Bielefeld, Paderborn District Craftsmen&#39;s Association, and the West German Chamber of Crafts were its founding members. Its current partner is the Education &amp; Crafts Foundation from Paderborn.
