Golden Gate University (GGU or Golden Gate) is a private, non-profit university in San Francisco, California. Founded in 1901, GGU specializes in educating professionals through its schools of law, business, taxation, and accounting. The university offers six undergraduate degrees with 11 concentrations and 15 graduate degrees with 24 concentrations.
The university evolved out of the literary reading groups of the San Francisco Central YMCA at a time when, according to one contemporary estimate, only one of every two thousand men had a college education. GGU shares its YMCA roots with a number of other U.S. universities, including Bentley University, Capital University Law School, Michigan State University College of Law, Northeastern University (Boston, Massachusetts), Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Roosevelt University, South Texas College of Law, University of Toledo College of Law, Western New England University, and Youngstown State University. On November 1, 1881 at the YMCA building at 232 Sutter Street, which the organization had occupied since 1868, the YMCA Night School was established. Classes were offered in bookkeeping, mathematics, stenography, elocution, Spanish and gymnastics. Successful completion of these courses led to a certificate that was recognized by more than 100 colleges and trade schools. Other offerings of the association would include a common school for boys. In April 1894 the YMCA moved to a new five-story building at the northeast corner of Mason and Ellis Streets.

The HANDLERY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP was established by the Handlery Hotels to retain talented hospitality industry leaders or those seeking a professional position in management or any other industries and has financial needs. Students will describe how they would use their degree in a professional management position, after graduation.

Handlery Endowed Scholarship

The ISAACSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP is available to students pursuing a graduate degree in Financial Planning. Students should describe how they have financed their education to date and what they plan to do with their degree.

Isaacson Endowed Scholarship

The WILLIAM ENDERLEIN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP was established to recognize students in the School of Business and Finance Accounting seeking a professional position in management. Students will describe how they have financed their education to date, how they would use their degree in a professional position of management.

William Enderlein Endowed Scholarship

The MASUD MEHRAN ENDOWED FELLOWSHIP is named after a member of the University Board of Trustees. Student must be in good academic standing, and have financial need. Preference is given to individual displaying entrepreneurial spirit and who takes initiative. Students should describe a current or previous involvement in a start-up company or organization; and describe the spirit, initiative and attribute to build a successful company or organization.

Masud Mehran Endowed Fellowship

The TRITASAVIT ACCOUNTING SCHOLARHSIP is available to International students in the School of Accounting, with outstanding academic achievement with financial need. Students will describe how they would use their degree to help those in need

Tritasavit Accounting Scholarhsip

The NAGEL MINER SCHOLARSHIP is available to students with financial needs. Students should describe their background, why they chose to attend GGU and explain the steps taken to participate with the GGU Community; and address how their GGU education, program of study will help them to succeed and what they plan to do with their degree, after graduation from GGU.

Nagel Miner Scholarship

tudents should describe a situation when their values, actions, or opinions were challenged and how they defended their position or advocated on behalf of another person facing discrimination due to cultural differences, language or other factors

Huguenot Foundation Scholarship

The ROBERT J SHAW SCHOLARSHIP is available to students enrolled in the School of Taxation and attending the Seattle Campus. Eligible students must be paying for their tuition without employer reimbursement or financial aid assistance and have a GPA of 3.00 or higher. Students should write on this subject: If you were "Dictator of the Tax Code", what changes would you make and why.

Robert J Shaw Scholarship

An International President's Scholar is eligible to receive up to USD15,000 to complete their degree, USD5,000 per term for up to 3 consecutive terms.

International Presidents Scholars

An International Dean's Scholar is eligible to receive up to USD12,000 to complete their degree, USD4,000 per term for up to 3 consecutive terms.

International Deans Scholars

Our Welcome grant is a one-time award of USD3,000 applied to tuition in the first term of enrollment.
