History
High Point University was formed from the efforts of a church that became active in educational pursuits in 1921. The church was the Methodist Protestant Church and the members voted to open a college to provide education to the citizens. After some time the committee asked for a huge land of 60 acres from a High Point citizen. It was to be known as High Point College after that.
