John Cabot University, founded in 1972, is an independent, four-year liberal arts university offering undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, and study abroad programs to English-speaking students from all over the world. It was named after 15th-century Italian explorer Giovanni Caboto, also known as John Cabot, who opened the channels for further exploration of North America. 
As of 1978, most students at John Cabot were business majors, though some were getting an Associate of Arts degree. From 1985 to 1991, the university expanded or created programs in Art History, International Affairs and English Literature. It was formerly academically associated with Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio. In 1991, the school became an independent university under the name John Cabot University and became accredited in 2003, thus ending its affiliation program with Hiram.&nbsp;

Admission to John Cabot&#39;s undergraduate program is based on a review of the following items:

1. Completed application form. We accept both our online application and the common application.

2. A 600 word personal essay.

3. $50/&euro;50 non-refundable application fee. Please note that only U.S. and Canadian citizens may pay in dollars.&nbsp;

4. Official transcripts of all secondary and post-secondary school work to date: transcripts not in English or Italian must be accompanied by a certified English language translation.

5. Interview by phone, Skype, or in person.

6. Letter(s) of Recommendation or Teacher Evaluation Form. Two for freshman applicants, one for transfer applicants.

7. SAT or ACT results (US applicants only) This requirement has been waived for students applying for the Spring 2022, Fall 2022, and Spring 2023 semesters. Students wishing to provide their SAT/ACT results as part of their application may share them with John Cabot University directly through Collegeboard; John Cabot University&#39;s code for SAT is 2795 / ACT code is 5283.
