The Institute, which began as the Donogh O&#39;Malley Regional Technical College, has grown into a complete third-level institution. Letterkenny Institute of Technology was christened after it in 1998. Furthermore, in 2007, the Tourism College Killybegs was designated as an LYIT academic institution. The&nbsp;130 programs offered span four schools of business, tourism, engineering, and science, and range in length from one to four years, blending academic theory with practical skills development. The students at LYIT come from all over the world and come from over 31 nations. LYIT&nbsp;also serves as a springboard to higher learning. Grant holders account for 70% of our full-time students, with rewards ranging from certificates to doctorates.

Although there is no on-campus housing, locating lovely and economical student housing in Letterkenny or Killybegs is not difficult. There are possibilities for shared digs and houses to rent, as well as apartments specifically designed for the student market in Letterkenny. The Institute is in a convenient location, with options of lodging within a 10-minute walk of each of the campuses.
