<p><b>Manhattanville College</b> is a private liberal arts college offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in Purchase, New York. Founded in 1841 at 412 Houston Street in lower Manhattan, it was known initially as "Academy of the Sacred Heart", then later as "Manhattanville College" after 1847. In 1917, the academy received a charter from the Regents of the State of New York to raise the school officially to a collegiate level granting degrees as the "College of the Sacred Heart". The school moved to its current location further north, in a suburb beyond New York City in Purchase, New York, in 1952. It is near the hamlet of Harrison in Westchester County.
</p><p>Approximately 1,600 undergraduate and 900 graduate students attend Manhattanville, with students coming from 45+ countries and 35+ American states.
</p><p>The architectural and administrative centerpiece of the Manhattanville campus is Reid Hall (1864) which was named after Whitelaw Reid, publisher and owner of the <i>New-York Tribune</i>, one of the leading newspapers in the nation for a century. On either side of Reid Hall stand academic buildings on one side and on the other residence halls around a central quad designed by the landscaping / architect Frederick Law Olmsted, also the designer of New York's landmark Central Park in the 1850s and 1860s. The Manhattanville community regards the central quad and buildings as representing the academic vision of the college's commitment to integrated learning and centered strengths. Other historic buildings include the Lady Chapel, the President's Cottage known as the Barbara Debs House, the old Stables, and Water Tower.

        <p>There are a wide variety of homestay options available, and our partners do their best to match students and hosts according to their interests and preferences. Homestay hosts include single people, young couples with children and pets, and older couples. All homestay accommodations have been inspected, and all adults in the home have completed a required criminal reference check.</p>

<p>95% of the enrolled students received some sort of financial aid.</p> <ul><li>USD 36 million is offered as financial aid to the students.</li><li>Over 5000 merit scholarships are offered to students starting from USD 5000 each.</li><li>The college offers <b>scholarships, grants, loans and student- employment opportunities for students to afford study in the USA</b>.</li><li>Some of the merit scholarships include Chairman's Scholarship (USD 25000/ year), President's Scholarship (USD 21000/ year), Dean's Award (USD 10000/ year), Board of Trustees Scholarship (USD 23000/ year) and Provost's Scholarship (USD 17000/ year)</li><li>The application or all these scholarships has to be filled after being accepted into the college.</li></ul>

Financial Aid

<p>The average salary of the alumni is USD 52,300. 89% of the graduates of 2018 are either employed or enrolled in a grad school.</p><ul><li>The college offers over 12,500 internship opportunities and over 3500 employer connections.</li><li>The Centre for Career Development helps the students in getting internships, fellowships, or jobs or help in getting in touch with career counsellors.</li><li>Students can log in on Handshake in order to get in touch with the employers and access jobs recommendations which would be personalised based on the interests of the applicant.</li><li>Students can also get their resume reviewed and attend on- campus career fairs and workshops.</li></ul>
