MCPHS University was founded in 1823 as the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy by fourteen Boston pharmacists.&nbsp;

It is the oldest higher education institution in Boston. In 1852, the University obtained a charter from the Great Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to award its first formal degree
