Starting as the Alberta Vocational College in 1965, the NorQuest College at present is a public funded community college. It was established under the Government of Alberta. The main concern or say reason of making this institution was to teach and develop skills within under employed and under trained people of the region. The college started with only 4 academic classes, 60 business education aspirants, a barber shop and a room for maintenance purposes. Only after the government interfered, the university expanded along with the expansion of students from 550 in 1966 to 2,300 in 1972.
