Purdue University Northwest was established in 2016. Two Purdue campuses&mdash;in Hammond, Indiana and Westville, Indiana&mdash;unified to help eliminate administrative duplication, and provide academic excellence to strengthen student education and opportunities.

	<li>The unification of Purdue Calumet (Hammond) and Purdue North Central (Westville) was approved by the Higher Learning Commission on March 4, 2016.</li>
	<li>This officially marked the establishment of Purdue University Northwest. However, Purdue Calumet and Purdue North Central each have an important history. With World War II taking place, these two campuses offered technical courses as part of the national defense training program with the federal government.</li>
	<li>The campuses remained open when the war ended in 1945, offering credited courses. Both campuses were built as a credited university in 1946.</li>

Campus

Purdue University&mdash;Northwest is a public institution that was founded in 2016. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 7,246 (fall 2020), its setting is a city, and the campus size is 454 acres.

It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. Purdue University&mdash;Northwest&#39;s ranking in the 2022 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities Midwest, #112.

Its in-state tuition and fees are $8,057; out-of-state tuition and fees are $11,688.

It is a better university at its level but still not recommended by us very much as this university does not have a good alumni network which is very much necessary for a good placements.

Faculty

Grants 
Grants are gift aid and do not have to be repaid. The federal government and the State of Indiana both award need-based grants (aid based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA).

Scholarships 
Scholarships are another form of gift aid and do not have to be repaid. Scholarships may be based on financial need and/or student achievement. PNW automatically considers all freshmen applicants for merit-based scholarships. Students may also apply for a number of specialty PNW scholarships and external scholarships.

Loans 
Most students who complete a FAFSA and meet financial aid requirements are eligible for some form of federal loan. Federal student loans offer fixed interest rates and flexible repayment and deferment options. Private loans may also be an option for students. Loans must be repaid.

Work-Study 
The Federal Work-Study Program provides part-time jobs for eligible students. The money earned through work-study jobs is paid directly to the student, to help with living and educational expenses.
