Ryerson Institution, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a public research university. The university&#39;s main campus is in the Garden District, although it also has facilities in other parts of Toronto. The Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Communication and Design, Faculty of Community Services, Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, Faculty of Science, Lincoln Alexander School of Law, and Ted Rogers School of Management are among the university&#39;s seven academic divisions/faculties. Several of these faculties are divided into smaller departments and schools. 
Approximately 44,400 undergraduates and 2,950 graduate students are enrolled at the university during the 2019&ndash;20 academic year.The university&#39;s athletics department fields many varsity teams that compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference of U Sports as the Ryerson Rams.

The university&#39;s main campus is located in downtown Toronto&#39;s Garden District. Although portions of the campus are zoned for commercial and residential use, most of the site is classified as a mixed-use institutional district. 
The public realm encompasses most of the streets and laneways on Ryerson&#39;s campus. Connector streets with automobile traffic and pedestrian-only streets are examples. 
The university owns most of the parks, plazas, and green spaces on campus. At the same time, the public has access to these areas. 
The university owns and operates more than 40 structures. Many of the first buildings erected expressly for the institution were developed in the Brutalist architectural style in the mid-twentieth century.

International Student Winter Merit Scholarship

This award is named in memory of Geoff Boyes, a retired math professor who passed away in 2014. Geoff remembered TMU in his will with a legacy gift. Geoff recognized the financial hardships that international students faced while pursuing post-secondary education.

This scholarship was established in 2001 with support from the Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank) to enhance and contribute to the cultural and ethnic diversity of TMU and the greater Toronto communities. Through the facilitation of the Scotiabank International Student Scholarship in International Student Support (ISS), Toronto Metropolitan University wants to demonstrate support to international students and encourage success in their academic life. Based on the agreement with Scotiabank, this scholarship is for upper-year full-time undergraduate international students with a strong academic achievement. Unfortunately, first year international students are not considered eligible for this scholarship

The Salad King International Student Awards were created by Mr. Ernest and Mrs. Linda Liu, owners of the popular Salad King restaurant. Mr. Liu recalls the challenges that he faced as an international student in a new country. The Liu family recognizes that some TMU international students overcome similar difficulties and financial burdens in their transition to Toronto Metropolitan University and life in Canada, and achieve tremendous success. By establishing the annual Salad King International Student Awards, Ernest and Linda Liu demonstrate that TMU's neighbours can make a difference in the lives of international students. This award is given to an international student who has demonstrated a strong leadership to improving the quality of student experience at Toronto Metropolitan University. An on-campus student leader makes an impact as a positive role model and as a great mentor for students.
