Overview
The University of the Arts - London has its origins in seven previously independent design, art, fashion and media colleges, which were brought together to form the London Institute in 1986.
The London Institute was granted degree-awarding powers in 1993.
Later in 2003, it received Privy Council approval for university status; it was renamed to its current name University of the Arts London in 2004.
