University of Nottingham was established in 1798 as an adult education school and in 1873 University of Cambridge inaugurated the University extension Lectures. In 1877, formally the foundation stone of the college was laid. College started with four chairs of professors and the subjects they taught included Literature, Physics, Chemistry and Natural Sciences. Number of chairs started increasing swiftly and by 1925 University was teaching 13 subjects. University underwent significant changes in the 1920s. Till the year 1948, University College Nottingham used to get its degree signed from University of London and in 1948 University was granted its Royal Charter. Developing Solutions is our flagship master's scholarship, founded in 2001, for students from African, South Asian, and other selected Commonwealth countries.
