University of Reading was established in the year 1892 as University College, Reading, a University of Oxford extension college. New College received its first treasury grant in the year 1901. College received its Royal Charter in 1926. It was only after getting the Royal Charter it became, University of Reading. This is the only University which was created in the midst of two world wars.
In 1984 it started a merger project with Bulmershe College of Higher Education and got accomplished in 1989. University is categorized as red bricks university owing to its original foundation in the 19th century. Facts: 1. It has four campuses and is divided into 16 academic schools since 2016. 2.
