In 1833, the Sydney Mechanic&#39;s School of Arts was founded. It was renamed Workingman&#39;s College in 1870, and then the Sydney Technical College in 1882. The University was finally given its current name, University of Technology, Sydney, in 1988. The institution has strengthened its concentration on research over the last 20 years while also constructing contemporary facilities and improving the quality of education on campus.
