In 1595, a school called Merchant Ventures was established which became Merchant Venture Technical College. After few years University of Bristol was formed which in turn became University of West England. 
Technical college then became Polytechnic in 1970. The institution got university status and its present name in the year 1992 as a result of the Further and Higher Education Act, 1992. Facts: 1. Institution is affiliated with Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and validates its higher education courses. 2. In 2016, UWE Bristol launched a rebranding campaign which introduced a new look to the university. 3. Frenchay campus is the largest campus. 4. The University of the West of England Boat Club is the rowing club belonging to the university. 5. NCLT is a collaboration between UWE Bristol and Central Law Training, launched in January 2010.

College of Health, Science and Society MSc Scholarship

The GREAT Scholarships 2024 programme, launched by the British Council together with 72 UK universities, supports postgraduate students to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of GBP10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Please note that applicants should be passport holders of Bangladesh, China (mainland only), and India.

GREAT Scholarships 2024

There are some full-time and part-time courses where the 25% discount does not apply.

Postgraduate research students (PhD, DPhil, MPhil, Prof Doc) are eligible for a 25% discount on the first year of study only if their course is full time, and for the first two years of study only if on a part-time course.

The discount does not apply to retake modules, integrated/continuing professional development courses or degree apprenticeships.

The 25% discount applies only to courses starting in the 2022/23 or 2023/24 academic years. For courses starting in 2024/25 academic year, the alumni discount will be reduced to 20%. Any discounts or offers for courses starting after 2024/25 are yet to be confirmed.
