The University of West London is a public university which originated as the Lady Byron School in 1860. The school changed to become the Ealing College of Higher Education. In 1990 four colleges, including the Ealing college, merged to form the Polytechnic of West London. The Polytechnic was granted university status in 1992 as Thames Valley University. It was in 2010 that the University of West London got its name. Today, the university comprises eight schools: the London College of Music, the College of Nursing, midwifery and Healthcare, the School of Computing and Engineering, the School of Human and Social Sciences, and the London School of Film, Media and Design.

Operated by Notting Hill Housing, the student village offers the students a chance at independent living. The available options include studio flats, 1/2 bedroom flats, and a 4 bedroom house. 
 
Off-campus facilities

The university supports its students&rsquo; decision to live off-campus and provides them the needed assistance as well. The university offers information and resources to students looking for private accommodation near the university campus and Ealing site. When you opt to live off-campus, you also get benefits like a gym membership, a Totem discount card, and 24/7 maintenance support. 
 
Food facilities (Availability of vegetarian/Indian food)

While there are several options available when it comes to eating on campus. For Indian food, however, you would have to step out or order takeaway. From Zayka to Rangrez, a lot of options are located just a couple minutes away from the campus. Indian cuisine is popular so you wouldn&rsquo;t have to go far to eat some familiar food.

Cultural, political, intellectual, artistic, media, and recreational groups abound at UWLSU. There&#39;s something for everyone, from gaming to social work, chess to dancing.

Cafe and Coffee

The university&#39;s caf&eacute; on the St Mary&#39;s Road location, Coffee Union, serves wonderful sandwiches, salads, cakes, and snacks, as well as hot and cold drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. Safety precautions will be in place when Coffee Union opens.

TOTUM

The NUS additional card is now known as TOTUM. It gives you access to over 200 UK student discounts as well as a free one-year Worldwide Student Identity Card (ISIC), which gives you access to over 42,000 international discounts.

Sports and Recreation Centre

The university has a number of sports groups that meet on a weekly basis throughout the year. They welcome new members at any time of the year and regardless of your degree of expertise in the sport.

Financial Aid

The University of West London is divided into two campuses, one in Ealing and the other in Brentford.

The university boasts of its medical simulation centres and has also newly installed a flight simulator.

The Paul Hamlyn Library has a wide range of books complemented by PC and Mac workstations and several study spaces.

There are state-of-the-art labs for engineering students, sewing rooms for fashion students, dining rooms for hospitality majors and several other facilities specially focused on the various courses the university offers.

Visiting the Great Pagoda and Royal Botanical Gardens is a great way to begin your exploration of London. You can also take the city tour to get acquainted with the city in a few hours. Gunnersbury Park Museum is a great place situated near campus which would give you a view into the history of the place you would be living in. National Trust - Ham House and Garden and Osterley Park &amp; House are popular tourist destinations as well.

Nearby Airports

When the nearest airport from the campus is the Heathrow airport, you really don&rsquo;t need to worry about finding other options. Heathrow airport is just 25 minutes away from the campus and is the perfect choice for both domestic and global flights. 
 
Nearby Subways and train stations

The nearest train station is the West Ealing station, a 7 minute drive away from the campus. But you should look forward to the subway journeys. South Ealing is the nearest subway station, being just 3 minutes away from the campus.

Internships

The university encourages their students taking up internships or part-time jobs as it would provide them with valuable work experience while making them financially independent. Undergraduate internships and placement can happen through career fairs or through applications submitted by the student independently. The university would assist their students during the process and may even host interviews on campus depending on availability.
