Scholarships in Canada for International Students

This scholarship is named after the first general governor of Canada Major General Georges P. Vanier. This scholarship is for those candidates who wish to opt for a doctoral program for the first time in Canada. This scholarship provides $50,000 per year for three years to the candidates. There are a total of 166 scholarships offered.

Eligibility

All the candidates who are permanent residents in Canada or are Canadian citizens can apply for this scholarship. Even foreign citizens can apply.

Courses offered

Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Social Sciences, Health Research (CIHR) of Canadian Institutes, Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Natural Sciences.

Academic score

The first-class average in each of the last two years of full-time study or its equivalent.

Exam

IELTS is compulsory.

Application process

The application can be done in two ways- Either candidates can apply for the scholarship by themselves while taking admission or the institution will nominate the deserving students by itself.

This scholarship is mainly valued at $1000 per term for three terms. It is awarded to those students who are registered for a full time Master’s or Doctoral programme.

Eligibility

Both domestic and international candidates can apply for this scholarship. Minimum of first-class average (80%) is required. You must have outstanding probationary admission requirements and also demonstrate academic excellence through criteria established by the faculty.

Application Process

No special documents are required for the application , applicants will be directly selected by the faculty of the university.

This scholarship is best for the students who are enrolled in graduate studies at the masters and doctoral level. The total value of this scholarship is USD 3,775 per term and it is minimum for two terms and maximum for three terms. Every year Ontario Graduate Scholarship offers 22 merit-based scholarships.

Eligibility

Both domestic and international students can apply for this scholarship but as per the guidelines, the candidate must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or international student studying in an Ontario university with a legal Canadian study permit.

Academic score

Minimum of A– Average (equivalent to 80%) in both the years of full-time study before the scholarship is awarded. The candidate must be English proficient and must register full-time in a graduate degree program.

This type of scholarship is for those who want to apply from graduate to all postgraduate programmes. The amount of this Scholarship ranges between 500-1000 CAD (Canadian dollar) every year.

Eligibility

1. The candidate must be from a member institution of Shastri Indo-Canadian or from another institution that falls under the Shashtri network.
2. The candidate must have at least 65% marks and should not have enrolled for any other degree or diploma.
3. Students enrolled in Bachelor degree and Master's for a minimum of one semester or 6 months are eligible for scholarship.

It offers doctoral degrees and master's degree in the following fields: political science, environmental studies, electronics, biotechnology, Economic planning, geography, law, sociology, computer science, architecture, health science. The duration for a master's degree is 2 years and for a doctoral degree is 4 calendar years.

Eligibility

1. Candidates must be Indian nationals.
2. Candidates must not be above the age of 40 years of age.
3. He must be proficient in any one official language i.e. French or English.
4. He must have completed his studies in English medium.
5. Candidates must qualify the TOEFL test.

At most 20 nominations should also include 12 nominations to carry out the study at masters level to be sent to the Canadian bureau under Canada commonwealth scholarship with required documents.

This scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships offered by University of Toronto. Every year 37 students get this scholarship. The amount of this scholarship is variable.

Eligibility

The candidate who is not a resident of Canada requires a study permit in Canada and should be in the final year of secondary or of undergraduate level. The candidate must start his studies in the month of September only, students already attending post-secondary studies or students starting their studies in January at another post-secondary institution are not considered for scholarship.

It provides a variety of degree programs for both Canadian and International students and it also gives good employment opportunities. The amount of scholarship for students who are Associate of Arts is CAD 2000, for MBA students CAD 4000, and for Bachelor of commerce, arts and business communication students CAD 8000.

Eligibility:

• If the candidate Is graduate then he must maintain a minimum GPA of 3 and for under graduate 2.67.
• The candidate must have a score of 7 in IELTS and a minimum of 6.5 in all bands or equivalent.

It is a government based scholarship aimed at attracting meritorious international students for higher education in Quebec, Canada. The amount of this scholarship for Doctoral research scholarships Is CAD 25,000 per year for up to three years, Postdoctoral scholarships CAD 35,000 per year and for Short-term professional development or research scholarships: CAD 3,000 is provided per month for up to four months to the candidates.

Eligibility

The candidate must be pursuing studies or research at a university in Quebec and must be studying a doctoral, postdoctoral or short-term research/professional development programme.

Application process

The candidate must submit the application form. After the application is submitted and it is verified and documents are up to date, then the institute will acknowledge the candidate.

About the scholarship: This scholarship is for the doctoral programmes. Every year a total of 70 fellowships are awarded. The amount of this scholarship is CAD 70000 which is taxable.

Eligibility

1. The candidate must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada or can be an international student.
2. Must fulfill all degree requirements for Ph.D., Ph.D. equivalent or health professional degree.
3. The candidate can make only 1 application per year and will be considered ineligible if he holds a previous Banting Social Doctoral Fellowship.
