Algoma University was established in the year 1965. This is the smallest university of Ontario. It began its functioning in September 1967 offering courses to 77 students. In 1971, many facilities and courses were introduced for the students.
In 1994 it was proposed that the university should operate independently and remove the indulgence of Laurentian University. But it did not pursue, finally on May 31, 2007, government Ontario announced that it would grant Royal Charter to Algoma University. Eventually, on 13 July 2009, Algoma University conferred its first degrees as an independent university. Facts: 1. It’s motto is “Truth, Knowledge, and Wisdom”. 2. It is an undergraduate-only university. 3. It even offers satellite programming in Brampton and Timmins, Ontario. 4. It has affiliations from AUCC, CBIE. 5. Arthur A. Wishart Library of Algoma University is a member of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries, the Association of Research Libraries, and the Ontario Council of University Libraries

On-campus facilities: Algoma University is located in the greener part of the country. It has numerous facilities to offer. Facilities it provides on-campus includes: 1. Guaranteed fully-furnished single-room and shared bathroom. 2. Shared common rooms and entertainment centre and microwave. 3. Shared kitchen-space and required meal plan. Off-campus facilities: Sault Ste Marie is a small and beautiful place located in North Ontario. Students can easily find private accommodation, if they are not able to find the best one in campus. Also, city has a lot to entertain. Therefore, it is a great place located near the US-Canada border. Food facilities (Availability of vegetarian/Indian food): Restaurants and cafes that can be visited include: 1. Tazzi’s Café& Restaurant 2. Shabby Motley Café 3. Shabby Motley Handcraft 4. Superior Café 5. Hard Wok Café

Accommodation

Algoma University owns plenty of reasons behind its choice. It has a lot to attract. It has a convergence centre and provides accommodation facilities to its students. Campus is extremely beautiful and it is going to sooth your eyes during all the four seasons. It has a well-constructed cafeteria, computer labs and everything a student can demand for.
