History

Central Michigan University was established in 1892 with its former name Central Michigan Normal School and Business Institute. During its early days only business and stenography classes were taught.

Since that time, the university has expanded a lot and in 2017 it opened its 169,000-square-foot four storey CMU Biosciences Building for students.
