History 
Douglas College is a public college located in New Westminster in the Canadian province of British Columbia. In 1970, teh college was founded and named in the honour of Sir James Douglas, a former governor of British Columbia. The college only introduced its own coat of arms in 2020. There are two campuses led by this college, both in Vancouver but in different locations. The college primarily offers bachelor&rsquo;s degrees and caters to students who want to enrol in full time or part time courses.&nbsp;

Off campus facilities 
Homestay is a solid option for accommodation if you are looking to stay off campus. The college website also provides some useful links for students who want to rent independently to make the process easier for students.

Since the campus location does not offer meal plans as on campus accommodation is not on location, you will have to visit the following outlets to find Indian food:

Douglas College has state of the art facilties and the career services are excellent at making students accomplished once by introduncing them to new opportunities and employers. The alumni network of this college is strong and the college is located in a city which will provide them with exposure to prepare them for their future endeavors.

If we talk about entrance scholarships for international students, Douglas College offers upto &nbsp;$100,000 each year. For the Regional Entrance Awards with the prize money being $1000 - 2000, no additional application is required as each student is considered. Gym and two fitness facilities are there for everyone looking to stay fit. The cafeteria offers food to all students and staff. The music technology facilities have state of the art equipment in recording rooms. &nbsp;

Infrastructure

Place Description 
In 1858, New Westminster was original founded as the capital of the colony of British Columbia. The city also remained the largest city by population in the province until it was passed over by Vancouver in the beginning of the 20th century.Today, New Westminster is a major municipality of the regional district of Metro Vancouver. The city has been an important industrial centre and was also a major transportation center since it is located at the banks of the Fraser River.&nbsp;

Nearby Airports 
The nearest airport to the both the campuses is the Vancouver International Airport as both the campuses lie in the Metro Vancouver regional district. Just half an hour away by car from both the campuses, this airport will be your pitstop for all your travels.

Nearby subways and train stations 
No subways stations are located nearby, at elast 20-25 minutes away. No bus stops are located nearby either. You can look at different modes of transportation that suit you best for&nbsp;your daily commute.&nbsp;

Important landmarks/places nearby 
Vancouver and nearby areas see a lot of tourist traffic and many different tourist attractions are located around New Westminster to appeal to both residents and tourists. You can take a look at:

Summers in New Westminster are the ideal time to visit and to explore the city. You will have to pack a lot of layers from the harsh and windy winters. You can look through detailed statistics as well but the annual average temperature that you can expect will fall in the range of 33&deg;F to 75&deg;F.
