Langara College (snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ in Halkomelem) is a public degree-granting college in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, which serves approximately 22,000 students annually through its university, career, and continuing studies programs. The college takes its name from the neighbourhood in which it is situated, which was named after Spanish Admiral Juan de Lángara.
Langara College courses and programs were first offered in 1965 at King Edward Centre as part of Vancouver City College. Since 1970, the current campus on West 49th Avenue has housed Langara's programs for almost 50 years. On April 1, 1994, Langara College was established as an independent public college under the Provincial College and Institute Act. Langara College Continuing Studies was established in 1997. To provide more space, a new classroom and office building was opened in January 1997. The new library/classroom building was opened in September 2007. Langara College began the construction of the Science and Technology Building in 2013 as part of Phase II (of IV) of the Master Plan to upgrade and expand the campus. Construction was officially completed in September 2016.
Musqueam, whose unceded territory Langara currently occupies, gave the traditional name snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ meaning 'house of teachings' to the college in January 2016. snəw̓eyəɬ references advice given to children to guide them into adulthood and build their character. This is the first time that a British Columbia First Nation gave an indigenous name to a public, post-secondary institution.

The International Regional Entrance Scholarships were established to financially support international students coming to Langara College in pursuit of higher education. 

Applicants can apply for the CAD7,500 award if they are planning to start their full-time undergraduate studies in the specified semester. 

Eligible recipients will have CAD5,000 applied towards the cost of tuition and fees in their first term of study. 

Recipients must maintain a CGPA of 2.67 in their first term and be registered full-time in an eligible program to receive the balance of their award as tuition credit in their second term of study.

International Regional Entrance Scholarship

This award is presented to a Langara College International student who has achieved the highest Langara CGPA in the first term of their post-degree certificate or diploma program and who is currently registered full-time in the second term of their post-degree certificate or diploma program.

Three awards per academic year (Fall, Spring, and Summer Term): CAD1,500 each.

Academic Success in a Post-Degree Certificate or Diploma Award

This award is presented to a Langara College International student who meets the Athletics conference eligibility criteria, is currently a member of a Langara College athletics team, and who is in good academic standing. 

If all above criteria are equally met by more than one student, then the award goes to the applicant(s) with the higher GPAs.

CAD4,500 available per calendar year, distributed at the discretion of the Director of Athletics between one, two, or three recipients.

International Student Athlete Award

Langara Global Volunteer Program Incentive Awards is awarded to International or Domestic students enrolled in any Regular studies or Continuing studies program. 

Recipients are required to be studying in a minimum of three credits and have a minimum CGPA of 2.33 or equivalent for continuing studies programs. 

Recipients must be a current participant in the Langara Global Volunteer Program (LGVP) and have volunteered for a minimum of 15 hours in the semester the award is received. 

Recipients will have demonstrated the most contribution and leadership to the LGVP. (Spring, Summer, or Fall).

Minimum CGPA of 2.33 or equivalent for Continuing Studies Programs.


Langara Global Volunteer Program Incentive Awards

The Lieutenant Governor's medal program was established in 1979 to recognize students who have excelled in their studies and who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the promotion of inclusion, democracy, and/or reconciliation on campus and/or in their community.

Eligibility Criteria : 

Graduates are eligible for this award if they: 

- are a full-time student with a minimum CGPA of 3.5;

- have contributed to inclusion, democracy, and/or reconciliation, and have documented their experience via a student letter; and

- provide reference letters supporting recent contributions to community service.

If you meet the above criteria, you may be eligible for a CAD500 Award and Certificate.

Lieutenant Governor's Medal for Inclusion, Democracy, and Reconciliation

The President's Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service honours graduates of bachelor degree program who demonstrate academic excellence and community service. 

Eligibility Criteria :

Graduates are eligible for this award if they:

- are graduating from one of the following programs:

- --> Bachelor of Business Administration

- --> Bachelor of Recreation Management

- --> Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics

- --> Bachelor of Science in Nursing

- have a minimum CGPA of 3.5; and

- can demonstrate their commitment to community service and provide letters from organizations to support recent community service.

If you meet the above criteria, you may be eligible for a CAD1,250 Award and Certificate.

President's Medal for Academic Excellence and Community Service

Awarded to the student graduating from a two-year arts and science program with the highest cumulative grade point average (CAD1,000).

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Arts and Science)

Awarded to the student graduating from a two-year career program with the highest cumulative grade point average (CAD1,000).

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Career)

Awarded to the bachelor degree program graduate with the highest cumulative grade point average (CAD1,500).

Langara College Graduate Excellence Award (Bachelor's Degree)

Awarded to the student graduating from a certificate program with the highest cumulative grade point average (CAD500).
