History

The College is a government designated, private post-secondary education institution located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.&nbsp;Founded in 1999, OMNI College was created by Mr. Ron Burke, a Canadian Registered Nurse. Ron is a visionary who very early on recognized that there would be shortage of nurses in Canada.Determined to find a solution, Ron welcomed the College&rsquo;s first Internationally-Educated Nurses back in 1999.

Since then, nurses from around the world have continued to study with OMNI College, achieve their dreams of becoming licensed as Canadian nurses, and most have successfully immigrated permanently to Canada. Today, there are many communities of OMNI College alumni working as nurses all across the country.

Off-campus facilitie

There are several homestay placement agencies that specialize in helping international students find the right place to live, so students may find their home away from home. The placement agencies usually charge a fee for the service, as they must pre-screen the homestay families to provide a safe and supported home before offering it to students.

The monthly cost of living at a homestay starts off at around $750 CDN.

	<li>Submit signed Student Contract</li>
	<li>Receive official Letter of Acceptance &amp; then apply for Visa &amp; Study Permit (if necessary)</li>

Richmond is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and the site of Vancouver International Airport. Known for its Asian influences, it&rsquo;s home to the International Buddhist Temple, an elaborate complex resembling Beijing&rsquo;s Forbidden City. Asian eateries and shops cluster in the Golden Village district. In the village of Steveston, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery has interactive exhibits on the local salmon-canning tradition.

OMNI College is a Designated Learning Institution, which gives international students eligibility to work part-time during studies and full-time during breaks.

Placements

The climate in Canada varies widely from one region to another. The Vancouver area benefits from a microclimate, thanks to its geographic location between the Pacific Ocean and the mountains. Temperatures in Vancouver vary between 0 and 15 degrees Celsius in the winter and 20-30 degrees Celsius in the summer.

Vancouver has a particularly wet winter so make sure to pack your raincoat and umbrella. In southern British Columbia, the thermostat rarely falls below 0 degrees Celsius. December to March remains the ideal season for winter-sports enthusiasts who can enjoy many activities only 20-30 minutes from the city (skiing, snowboarding, skating etc.). Warm clothing is essential during this season (coat, scarf, hat, gloves, wool sweaters, and boots) if you plan on visiting the mountains.
