Saint Joseph&#39;s College of Maine, located in Standish, Maine, is a private Catholic college. It is Maine&#39;s only Catholic college.

The Sisters of Mercy created Saint Joseph&#39;s as a women&#39;s institution in 1912. The college, governed by lay and religious Board of Trustees, was initially housed on a convent in Portland before moving to its current lakeside location in Standish in 1956. Saint Joseph&#39;s became coeducational in 1970, and a distant education program for working adults began six years later. Through its online programs, Saint Joseph&#39;s College Online serves 2,400 students from 50 states and nine countries.

The 474-acre campus is nestled on the shores of scenic Sebago Lake, just a half-hour drive from Portland, Maine&#39;s largest city, and two hours from Boston. Lakes, mountains, the seaside, and the city are all right outside your door. The lakeside environment is ideal for getting out and about in nature. The mountains and the water are both close to the University of Maine.

Maine&#39;s climate is characterized by&nbsp;cold, snowy winters and mild summers.
