Fairmount College&nbsp;is a Congregational college, founded by Wichita State University in 1895. The college was renamed the Municipal University of Wichita in 1926, making it the first municipal university west of the Mississippi River. The current name of the university was given to it in 1964. The Kansas Board of Regents has granted WSU affiliation.&nbsp;

Shocker Hall is a brand-new residence hall that opened in 2014. It houses about 800 first-year students and is located in the heart of the Wichita State campus. Shocker Hall has a variety of room styles ranging from shared to private, so there is a living environment to suit everyone&#39;s preferences.

The Suites is a 220 room residence hall on the east side of campus, immediately opposite the Flats Apartments. The majority of the units in the structure are two-bedroom suites, with some one-bedroom and four-bedroom units strewn about. Each apartment has a private bathroom, kitchenette, washing and dryer, and a shared living room. Only first-year residents are eligible to live in the Suites.
