The University of Worcester originated as the Emergency Teacher Training College for the University of Birmingham in 1946. It came to be known as Worcester Teacher Training College in 1948 and Worcester College of Higher Education in 1976. In 1995, the college absorbed the Herefordshire and Worcestershire College of Nursing and Midwifery. Two years later, the Privy Council provided the college with the right to award their degrees, and the college became University College Worcester. It was in 2005 that the Privy Council granted the institution university status. HM Privy Council gave the power to award research degrees in 2010. The university currently operates three campuses and plans to add a fourth one.

Nearby Subways and train stations

The nearest train station is the Worcester Foregate Street and is a seven minute drive away from the campus. Worcester Shrub Hill station is a ten minute drive away from the campus. Since the train stations are not very conveniently located, you can make the most of bus routes. The nearest bus stops are just a couple minutes away from the campus and include University Gates, Students Union, St. David&rsquo;s Church, Holywell Hill and Fern Road.
